Join MDRT member Dave Alison, CFP, EA, for a discussion of the new Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) 2.0 Act and what it means for you and your clients. This law overlays the original SECURE Act signed in 2019, which changed the game for retirement-planning businesses and anyone accumulating money in pre-tax retirement accounts. It eliminated one primary provision allowing the individual who inherits a retirement account to stretch out the distributions. The new law was passed in 2022 and includes several minor updates, such as extending the required minimum distribution (RMD) age, reducing penalties for missing an RMD, allowing employer matching to be allocated to a Roth account, increasing contributions to a QLAC, increasing retirement plan catch-up contributions in 2025, creating Roth SEP IRA or SIMPLE IRA options and allowing for an IRA charitable rollover to a charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust.

The discussion will be moderated by 13-year MDRT member Timothy D. Clairmont, CFP, MSFS. There will be a live Q&A session after the presentation.
